About carnations delivery in the UK

Carnations deserve far more credit than they get. They last longer than almost any other cut flower (often 2–3 weeks), come in virtually every colour, and are one of the most affordable flowers you can send. The fluffy, ruffled blooms have a quiet elegance and a gentle, spicy fragrance. They're a staple of florists worldwide for good reason.

Carnations are available year-round from all major UK florists and are among the most affordable flowers to send. They travel exceptionally well — one reason they're popular in letterbox bouquets. Delivery is available next day nationwide, with free delivery from many florists on carnation bunches.

How to choose the right carnation

Mind the stripe

Striped carnations traditionally mean refusal or regret — avoid them as a gift unless you're sure the recipient doesn't know the meaning. Solid colours are always a safe, beautiful choice.

Spray vs standard

Standard carnations have one large bloom per stem. Spray carnations have multiple smaller blooms per stem and look fuller in arrangements. Both are widely available and excellent value.

Care for longevity

Re-cut stems at a 45° angle and remove any leaves below the waterline. Carnations are particularly sensitive to ethylene gas — keep them away from ripening fruit to maximise their 2–3 week vase life.

Go single-colour

A tight bunch of 20 carnations in a single bold colour — all red, all white, or all pink — looks incredibly striking and modern. They've had something of a fashion renaissance in contemporary floristry.
